Yong-Sun Kim
ABSTRACT
TV programs are produced with cameras and everything we see on the TV screen is know as image. These TV images are completed with a team activity where experts of different fields dis play their technical and artistic abilities. These images may vary depending on the program but 50% of them are made of characters an d the background is made with the main character of the screen as the central figure. Therefore, how the character is expressed in the image works as a very important element that determines t he quality of the image. As a new broadcasting system, HDTV is introduced, there need to be researches on new make up technique that can play more realistically. The objective of the study is to use the most desirable makeup technique for the HDTV pro duction. In order to achieve the objective of the study, a comparatory analysis was done on make up technique for HDTV and previous makeup technique. Also, the study applied the makeup for HDTV and makeup with airbrush to the HDTV system and compared the make up results. The results show that all makeup techniques for HDTV have strength and weakness. However, there need to be researches on various materials related to HDTV and development of methods b efore studying the makeup techniques but first, the recognition on makeup should be changed dep ending on the production environment. In the current production system, there would be problems even if the materials and makeup te chniques for HDTV production are developed and used in the production. When the makeup techn iques for HDTV and makeup technique of airbrush are used appropriate for the program's characteristics, it will produce better images on screen. Also, there should be constant studies on this field through investigations and discussions of experts.
