ABSTRACT
Ginseng (the root of Panax ginseng C. A. MEYER) is one of the most commonly used traditional medicines in Asian countries for the treatment of various diseases. To improve ginsenoside bioavailability and biological activity, various commercial enzymes were used to prepared enzymatic treated ginseng leaf. The extract treated with Ultraflo L showed the highest levels of cosmeceutical properties. The increase rate of Ultraflo L treated ginseng leaf (UTGL) compared non-enzymatic treated ginseng leaf (NEGL) on kind of ginsenoside was generally 150%. The skin permeability of Ultraflo L treated ginseng leaf (UTGL) was higher than that of non-enzymatic treated ginseng leaf (NEGL) using Franz diffusion cells, but no significant difference. The physical stability assay includes the measurements of pH, color and precipitation at 25±2°C/AH and at 40±2°C/70±5% RH for 4 weeks. The formulations added with NEGL or UTGL showed stable pH during the time and conditions of storage, but color and precipitation changed slightly.
Key words: Ginseng leaf, Enzyme treat, Ultraflo L, Cosmeceutical, Stability for cosmetic
