| A Study on the Change of Facial Size by Meridian Scrapping Massage

Though the beginning has not been identified the meridian massage which has been recorded in Huangti nei ching, a Chinese historical book, has been originated as a folk remedy. Several atrophic problems can be removed by massaging the muscles or stimulating the nerves inervating the muscles. Thus we tried to inspect the effect of this meridian scrapping massage on facial size. The sizes were measured by both a vernier caliper and a measuring tapeline. The results were analysed by Student's t-test. Generally speaking, the facial sizes were reduced significantly by meridian scrapping massage in comparison with those of the untreated controls. After the decreases in lineal distances measured by caliper, there were the decreases in the contour sizes measured by measuring tapeline. These results suggest that the meridian scrapping massage is an effective method to reduce facial size keeping its steric conformation.
