Relieving Effect of Foot Reflexology Using Few Aroma Oils on Cosmetologists’ Stress

ABSTRACT
To relieve stress of cosmetologists, foot reflexology using few aroma oils in this study were practised, and the stress relieving effect was evaluated using Heart Rate Variability (HRV). The control group consisted of 10 persons treated with sunflower oil, while two experimental groups with two and six aroma oils. The treatments for every group were carried out 5 times in one week intervals and questionnaires were conducted. The results were as follows: TP of HRV was gradually increased after the first, third and fifth week massage. LF components were reduced after the first, third and fifth week massage. HF components was gradually increased after the first, third and fifth week massage. LF/HF Ratio were gradually reduced after the first, third and fifth week massage. mHRT was reduced with treatment times, which showed the stress relieving effect. physical and psychological stresses were reduced after the foot massage. The satisfaction of six aroma oils group was significantly higher than control group. In this study, parameters of HRV were supposed to be useful to evaluate different level of stress, and the foot reflexology massage had the effect to relieve the stress of cosmetologists, The author concluded that foot reflexology massage using six aroma oils may reduce the stress of cosmetologists more effectively.
