Effect of Foot Reflexology Training and Treatments on Depression, Anxiety Status and Leisure Satisfaction of the Elderly Couples in Rural Community

ABSTRACT
In this study, I carried out foot reflexology, which is a program affecting psychological criterion of an old age, targeting eight elderly couples in rural area in order to examine a usefulness of foot reflexology by analyzing the effect on depression, anxiety status and leisure satisfaction after foot reflexology training and treatments. I planned pre-to-post of the same experimental group which contains eight elderly couples. Foot reflexology training and treatments are conducted 60 minutes one time, twice a week and for 12 weeks. The changes of depression, anxiety status and leisure satisfaction were measured. We reached a conclusion that depression (p<.01), anxiety status (p<.05), and leisure satisfaction (p<.001) were significantly decrease after the foot reflexology training and treatments. Therefore, Foot reflexology training and treatments can be useful of elderly couple’s leisure program in rural area for their leisure satisfaction and mental health.
