A prospect on development of functional foods in the cosmetics industry

ABSTRACT
The study of functional cosmetics and inner beauty is one of the most interesting and hopeful segments in functional foods. The consumers have already realized the connection between health and beauty, and that eating healthy will result in outside beauty as well. Beauty products are no longer stay just on the skin surface. Nutricosmetics are an emerging category in dietary supplements. The world cosmetics market is currently worth about Us$ 60 billion, of which cosmeceuticals make approximately US$ 14-20 billion. Overall, the growth rate of the nutricosmetics segment is estimated to be about 8-12%. Apart from traditional cosmeceutical ingredients, such as vitamin A, C, and E, many new natural cosmeceutical anti-aging ingredients have entered the market in recent years. Among those are isolated active substances, such as flavonoids, polyphenols, lycopene, and omega-3 are recognized beneficial effect on health and beauty. The presentation will also look in detail at popular cosmeceutical ingredients and their proven effectiveness, and also on products on the market that contain these ingredients. Compiling internet research with manufacturer's information, an attempt will be made to evaluate the various products and to give a perspective on future trends for nutricosmetics and beauty foods.
