ABSTRACT |
The present study conducted a survey of students in the Department of Beauty Culture and specialist
in beauty concerning their perception on the establishment of graduate schools related to
beauty culture and looked for the future direction of the development of graduate schools related to
beauty culture.
According to the result of the questionnaire survey, 37.2% of students and beauty artists were
very positive to the establishment of graduate schools related to beauty culture and 52.6% were relatively
positive, showing that both students and beauty professional are interested in graduate
schools related to beauty culture. With regard to preferred types of graduate school, the respondents
wanted balanced curriculum between theory and practice but did not show any particular preference
between day and night school.
Reasons for the respondents to hesitate in taking the graduate course were poor financial condition
and dissatisfaction with curriculum. Beauty professional respondents and particularly 51.9% of
skin care specialists also mentioned dissatisfaction with curriculum as the second biggest reason.
This shows that there are not many curricula related to skin care.
For the development of the graduate school of beauty culture, subjects should be divided into
those of natural science and those of art so that students can study scientific theories as well as
experience creative art. Moreover, active research activities should be promoted under the protection
of the law so that people’s perception on beauty culture workers is changed and the working environment
is improved and, as a consequence, many specialists in beauty culture may be raised.
A new turning point will be made through cooperation among the academic circle, the area of
beauty culture and the government’s policies. |
