ABSTRACT |
Purpose: This study aimed to analyze the anti-inflammatory effects of Dictyopteris undulata extract on skin using RAW 264.7 cells. Methods: Its anti-inflammatory effects on RAW 264.7 cells were evaluated by measuring the cell viability, gene expression levels (IL-1α/IL-1β/IL-6 and TNF-α), and nitric oxide (NO)/prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) production. Results: Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction showed that the D. undulata extract decreased the mRNA levels of IL-1α/IL-1β/IL-6 and TNF-α. Additionally, PGE2/NO detection revealed that D. undulata extract exhibited anti-inflammatory properties. Conclusion: D. undulata extract is a potential anti-inflammatory compound. Further study on the anti-inflammatory mechanisms of D. undulata extract would facilitate the development of cosmeceutics and pharmacological treatments.
