ABSTRACT
This study comparatively researched into the influence upon brain waves when carrying out ear-candle breathing method, thermal auricular therapy and auricular massage targeting adult women in their 20s-30s. After researching into general matters before experiment in all of three research groups, the brain waves, blood pressure, and pulse were measured. The group with ear-candle breathing did inhale for 10 minutes with having distance in 30cm from a user by shedding aroma in one ear candle with lying down sideways. The group with thermal auricular therapy maintained for 10 minutes with sticking ear candle in one-side ear with lying down sideways. The group with auricular massage carried out the smoothly auricular massage for 10 minutes with lying down sideways. In conclusion, the group with ear-candle breathing wasn't significant in all. The group with thermal auricular therapy was significant in pulse and stress quotient. The group with auricular massage was significant in pulse. Given seeing the findings, what there was no effect in the group with ear-candle breathing is considered to have no effect by inhalation because of being weak in aroma components, which are contained in ear candle. Also, the smell of being burned was stronger than the aroma scent when shedding ear candle. In light of this, the aroma scents within ear candle are considered to be insufficient. There was significant change in pulse as for the group with auricular massage. It is considered that user's psychological stability would be functioned because of having been carried out the smooth auricular massage, not acupressure. In the group with thermal auricular therapy, the smooth massage, sucking-up effect, and thermal sense gave the psychologically comfortable stability, thereby being considered to probably have influence upon stress quotient and pulse.
Key words: Ear-candle breathing method, Auricular massage, Thermal auricular therapy, Brain waves, Blood pressure and pulse
